Improving strategic clarity and stakeholder communication for a port sector authority

A major Australian port authority engaged Prominence to refine and reposition its Strategic Plan 2025-2030 following an extensive internal development process. While the draft plan effectively articulated operational priorities, the organisation required support to ensure the final document clearly communicated its strategic direction to government, industry and community stakeholders.

Prominence worked closely with executive leadership over a five-month period to refine the strategic narrative and reposition the document as a clear, externally focused plan. This included aligning the plan with broader government priorities, clarifying organisational purpose and direction, and improving the consistency, tone and accessibility of the content. The engagement also involved reviewing and refining language, simplifying complex concepts and ensuring the plan was suitable for a wide audience.

In addition to the core strategic document, Prominence developed supporting materials to enhance communication and engagement. These included a concise public-facing version of the plan and a “Plan-on-a-Page” summary, enabling stakeholders to quickly understand key priorities and direction.

The project was delivered through an iterative and collaborative process, incorporating multiple rounds of feedback and adapting to evolving priorities, including the integration of board-developed KPIs. The final outputs provided a clear, professionally structured strategic narrative that strengthened stakeholder communication and improved organisational positioning within a complex operating environment. Prominence demonstrated strong capability in combining strategic planning, governance and communications expertise to deliver high-quality, stakeholder-focused outcomes.
