Prominence was engaged by a large Australian insurer to assess the feasibility, risks and benefits of transitioning its cloud operations management to a managed service model. The objective was to evaluate the current operating environment and develop a clear, evidence-based business case to inform future resourcing, sourcing and procurement decisions.
Prominence partnered with a specialist legal and digital advisory firm to design and assess a range of operating models for the client’s cloud support function. This included developing multiple team structures with varying capacity, capability requirements and sourcing approaches, ranging from predominantly internal delivery through to partially outsourced models. A key feature of the engagement was the development of a detailed and transparent financial model, enabling robust comparison of scenarios and real-time testing of assumptions and cost drivers.
The engagement also involved risk assessment, identification of implementation considerations and navigation of a complex stakeholder environment, including operating alongside an incumbent advisor with differing recommendations. Prominence maintained an independent, evidence-based approach, supported by its own financial modelling to ensure confidence in the analysis. The work was delivered within a sensitive operating context, requiring discretion and disciplined stakeholder engagement.
Prominence delivered a comprehensive cloud operating model review, a detailed financial and scenario modelling tool, and a structured business case outlining options and recommendations. The outputs provided a clear and defensible pathway for optimisation, with recommendations endorsed by the client. The strength and transparency of the modelling enabled informed decision-making and ongoing scenario analysis. The engagement demonstrated Prominence’s capability in operating model design through the integration of financial analysis, strategic advisory and effective stakeholder management in a complex environment.
