Prominence delivers Lean process improvement, upskilling and certified coaching to provide organisations and their teams with efficiencies that translate into tangible waste reduction and real savings.
Our certified Lean and Six Sigma consultants are experienced in working collaboratively with Defence stakeholders to review and enhance existing processes and ensure that implementation locks in the enhanced processes.
The larger and more complex an organisation, the greater the need for time, cost and productivity improvement. The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) is a uniquely complex division of Australia’s Department of Defence, with wide-ranging responsibilities affecting assets, personnel, process and performance.
Prominence was engaged over a period of two years to initially review and enhance the organisation’s Plan, Do, Review (PDR) improvement methodology and then provide hands-on support to the delivery of a major program of process improvement projects including:
- PDR improvement program coordination support
- facilitating the PDR process across a wide range of improvement projects (over 20 in total spread across Australia) covering processes such as inductions, disposals, health and safety and surveillance
- coaching, upskilling and certification of APS and Defence personnel in the PDR process and associated tools
- developing tools and artefacts (including a ‘solutions library’ and benefits calculator) to support Defence staff in the future delivery of PDR projects
- undertaking post investment appraisals (PIAs) to quantify the benefits realised from implementing improvement projects.
Each PDR project reaped significant benefits, ranging from optimised personnel capability and reduced financial cost (for example in reduced security and workplace health and safety risk, increased morale and improvements to personnel productivity), substantial reduction in disposal of holding stocks and subsequent increased in realised savings, and significantly improved contractor relationships (transforming feedback from negative to excellent).
Prominence later returned to CASG to facilitate Lean Six Sigma Yellow and Green belt coursework, also providing a review of existing activities to ensure CASG were successfully delivering their Lean Program.
